![]() Do we truly know how to love? I mean all the songs, all the ideologies on how to love, all the books, can we say we truly know how to love? Love is a great thing if we truly understand what it is. One thing that we must establish from this verse is that the law is not done away with, Gods law still stands and is in full effect. So, a question was posed, out of all these commandments which is the greatest? Now this was coming from a lawyer who was in a heated conversation with some Sadducees and Pharisees over which law is the greatest law. So, they turn to Messiah and posed a question. What we can learn from Messiah's response is that there are 2 greatest commands. The first is Love The Most High and the second is to Love your neighbor. Let's start off with the first and greatest command, To Love The Most High. What does this mean to Love The Most High?
We have many songs saying how much we love The Lord and He heard our cries but what does it mean to love The Most High and how are we to carry this out? The example that we have is in the scriptures where Messiah tells us that if we love Hime then we will keep His Commandments and the commandments that we are to follow are those that Messiah followed which are those of The Father. We must get out of the notion that our guide that The Most High, our creator has set in place from eternities past is no longer in effect because Messiah paid the price. His structure and our obedience to that structure is one example on how to love The Most High. Too often We want to love The Most High how we desire and not how He requires. To learn of His ways, to know how to Love God better, to know how He wants to be Loved, we must spend time in prayer with Him. Our prayer life is our direct communication with the father, it is our one-on-one time with The creator and in this time not only do we let our request known, but we listen for instruction. We mediate on His word and what he requires for us! Just like unto the First, just like it, very similar to being obedient to The Most High and that is to Love our neighbor. The word neighbor here is the Strongs G4139 plēsion (play -see – on). This equates to those who are in the same walk, those that are fellow believers the very ones that have Faith in The Most High Messiah told us that for the world to know who we belong to, what kingdom we represent, we must show them by the way we treat one another. This love that we are to show to fellow believers is a forgiving type of love, one that does not crave to exchange evil for evil, slowing wrath and being quick to hear one another. We must be cautious on how we speak to each other because life and death are in the tongue. And for us to love one another better, we must do so according to the guidelines the was set by The Most High because there two hang all the law and the prophets.
